Florence First Impressions

We made it to Florence with no problems, and decided to view the city through taste before we went back to our hotel to collapse from exhaustion.  Rebecca looks pretty good for someone who has not slept in 24 hours.

Cathy looks a bit more...lived in.  So tired here, but so excited!  We decided to stop at the first reasonably priced restaurant that we saw, and our pick was pretty nice!

We started with a insalade verde, which was literally a green salad.  It was as good as a pile of lettuce can be.  Maybe it's the full day of airline food talking, but with a bit of olive oil and vinegar, it was a nice, refreshing treat.

Cathy ordered a shrimp and pasta dish with zucchini, and it was very tasty!

However, Rebecca's gnocchi with pesto and cheese won.  It was SO delicious.

We eavesdropped on an Irish couple arguing about their bags, and enjoyed a nice, slow, quiet meal. They don't rush you in Italy, and it was the perfect way to end a hectic day of traveling.

On our way back to the hotel, we stopped for our first dish of gelato.   It is just one of many, we're sure.  We've made a sacred vow to eat at least one dish every single day, for science or something.  Any reason to eat gelato is a good reason.

We're ending our day early today, and have lots of exciting plans for tomorrow.  :)  Arrivederci for now!
